Basketball Recap: Churubusco Drops Season-High Score on Argos

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Churubusco). They were the clear victor by a 73-49 margin over the Argos Dragons on Saturday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.

Churubusco's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Mast led the charge by going 5 of 10 en route to 13 points along with six assists and four steals. That's the most steals Mast has posted since back in February of 2024. Brayden Bianski was another key player, going 6 for 11 to rack up 14 points and three steals.

Mast wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Churubusco was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Stults, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 19 points and five boards. That was a full 38.8% of Argos' points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zhayne Hellums, who went 6 for 10 en route to 13 points and five rebounds.

Churubusco's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Argos, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Churubusco has already played their next contest, a 52-34 loss against Lakeland on the 6th. Argos has also already played their next match (against Triton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
