Softball Game Preview: Springfield Tigers vs. Aquinas Knights

Springfield is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Aquinas a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Springfield Tigers will host the Aquinas Knights at 12:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Springfield lost 20-8 to Lowellville on Friday.

Springfield saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Wymer, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those stolen bases marked the first that Wymer snagged this season. Another was Gracie Maldonado, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Aquinas came up short against Central Christian last Tuesday, falling 9-3.

AyraBella Bacorn was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Ta'Leyah Williams was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Aquinas, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Aquinas' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Springfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457.
