Soccer Game Preview: Petersburg vs. Hopewell

The Petersburg Crimson Wave will face off against the Hopewell Blue Devils on Tuesday. Petersburg is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Petersburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Colonial Heights 2-1.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Hopewell made sure to put some goals up on the board against Heritage on Friday. They blew past the Hurricanes 6-0. The contest was close at halftime, but Hopewell turned on the heat in the second half with five goals.

The victory made it two in a row for Hopewell and bumps their season record up to 10-4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two games. As for Petersburg, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8-1.

Petersburg beat Hopewell by a goal in their previous meeting on May 15th, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crimson Wave since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
