Softball Recap: Marksville Takes a Loss

Marksville dropped their record down to 13-12 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the French Settlement Lions. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for French Settlement, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-13. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

For French Settlement's part, Malloy Miles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Miles was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, French Settlement got a big performance out of Remie Gautreau, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Gautreau has posted over her last four matches. Another player making a difference was Stella Allison, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

While Marksville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Wednesday.
