Baseball Recap: Perry Pumas vs. Williams Field Black Hawks
After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Perry was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of the Williams Field Black Hawks by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 last Wednesday.
Dane Jochumsen was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2025.
On the hitting side, Perry saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Cram, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Perry's loss dropped their record down to 3-9-1. As for Williams Field, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.
Perry and Williams Field will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Pumas are set to take on their familiar foe Basha at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Williams Field will challenge rival Highland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
