Preview: Ramsey Rams vs. Dieterich Movin Maroons
Ramsey has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Dieterich Movin Maroons at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Ramsey pushed their score all the way to 68 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 79-68 to Father McGivney Catholic. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ramsey in their matchups with Father McGivney Catholic: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Dieterich's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Newton by a score of 52-50. While losing is never fun, Dieterich can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Newton is ranked 102nd).
The losing side was boosted by Lucas Westendorf, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. Caleb Gephart was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Ramsey's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Dieterich, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Things could have been worse for Ramsey, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-32 loss to Dieterich in their previous meeting back in January. Can Ramsey avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
