Basketball Game Preview: Montgomery Aztecs vs. Bakersfield Christian Eagles

Having just played yesterday, the Montgomery Aztecs will jump right back in to play the Bakersfield Christian Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Montgomery has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Montgomery is headed into the matchup having just posted their biggest victory since November 18, 2024 on Friday. They blew past Scripps Ranch 77-31. The Aztecs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Bakersfield Christian entered their tilt with Birmingham on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They snuck past the Patriots with a 76-70 win. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Patriots are ranked 485th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bakersfield Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Montgomery, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
