Recap: Trego Golden Eagles vs. Hill City Ringnecks
The Trego Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Hill City on Friday as Trego made off with a 50-29 win. Given Trego's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Hill City is ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Trego to victory were Avery Ziegler and Dani Shubert. Ziegler scored 15 points along with three steals, while Shubert scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Makenna Flax, who scored four points along with three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Trego and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Hill City, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Trego will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Phillipsburg at 6:00 p.m. As for Hill City, they will head out on the road to face off against Northern Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Northern Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 back in December of 2023.
