League recap: Sacred Heart tops Lewiston to extend winning streak

D2 District 1 (8 Man) recap Oct. 16, 2012

Sacred Heart extended the longest winning streak in D2 District 1 (8 Man) this week by beating Lewiston, 61-12. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

Sacred Heart took down the Tigers 61-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Thanks to the talents of Austin Vitosh and Ely Hroch Diller-Odell has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Vitosh leads the league in passing with 466 yards, while Hroch has rushed for 858 yards this season. Lewiston's Austin Schmutz leads the league in receiving yards with 251 on 11 catches.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Sterling takes on the Griffin. The Jets are in second place, while Diller-Odell is in third place.

Fred Ivey's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 501 from 596. The advance stemmed from a 61-12 victory over the Tigers last week.
