Recap: St. John Paul II Panthers vs. Maclay Marauders
The St. John Paul II Panthers fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Maclay Marauders on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marauders. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. John Paul II in their matchups with Maclay: they've now lost five in a row.
St. John Paul II's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mario Forbes, who scored 9 points along with 15 rebounds. Forbes is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Julian Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Maclay's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from George Grant, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Avery Coffin, who scored 14 points.
St. John Paul II now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Maclay, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
St. John Paul II will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Community Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Community Leadership Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Maclay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crossroad Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
