Preview: Taft Raiders vs. Brennan Bears

Taft is 0-10 against Brennan since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Taft Raiders are on the road again and play against the Brennan Bears at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Taft, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-55 loss to Reagan. While losing is never fun, Taft can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 536th, while Reagan is ranked 224th).

Meanwhile, Brennan came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Clark by a score of 67-54.

Kingston Flemings continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds. The game was Flemings' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Camden Cowgill, who scored 18 points.

Taft's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Brennan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Taft might still be hurting after the 73-52 defeat they got from Brennan in their previous meeting back in February. Can Taft avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
