Softball Recap: Kingsford Takes a Loss

Kingsford managed to slip by Marquette the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Flivvers lost 16-9 to the Redmen on Thursday. The Flivvers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Redmen earlier this season, when they won 8-7.

Anna Bortolini was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Mya Brunswick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Kingsford has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Marquette, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-4.

Coming up, Kingsford will head out to face off against Gladstone at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marquette, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ishpeming at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
