Softball Game Preview: Belton-Honea Path Bears vs. West-Oak Warriors

The Belton-Honea Path Bears will take on the West-Oak Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Belton-Honea Path's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Pendleton 11-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, West-Oak entered their tilt with Walhalla on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Razorbacks with a sharp 11-0 win.

Abi Blackwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, West-Oak let Brylee Whitfield and Abigail Satterfield run wild. Whitfield went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Satterfield got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That home run was Whitfield's first of the season. Cassie Stoltzfus was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

West-Oak lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walhalla didn't launched any home runs.

West-Oak's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Belton-Honea Path, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.

Belton-Honea Path was able to grind out a solid victory over West-Oak when the teams last played back in March, winning 4-1. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
