Midway entered their tilt with McKinney on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They wrapped up 2024 with a 59-40 win over the McKinney Lions. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Lions are ranked 787th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Midway has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for McKinney, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Coincidentally, Midway and McKinney will both be playing Hays the next time they take the court. Midway will head out to face Hays at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, while McKinney will play them later in the day, at 8:00 a.m.
