Basketball Game Preview: Washington Township Senators vs. Lake Central Indians

Two dominant guards in Gracie Little and Vanessa Wimberly are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Washington Township Senators will head out on the road to square off against the Lake Central Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Washington Township will head into Tuesday's game on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against LaVille on Tuesday. Washington Township was the clear victor by a 52-30 margin over LaVille. The Senators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.

Washington Township's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Clair Klinger, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 14 points and four steals, and Little, who went 6 for 10 en route to 16 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The game was Little's third in a row with at least ten points. Jaycee Jackson was another key player, putting up ten points.

Hammond Morton typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Lake Central proved too difficult a challenge. They enjoyed a cozy 63-46 win over the Governors.

Lake Central is also on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Washington Township, their record is now 11-9.

Washington Township suffered a grim 52-29 defeat to Lake Central in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Washington Township avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
