Baseball Recap: Juanita Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Juanita lost to Liberty back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Ravens walked away with a 4-1 win over the Patriots.

Max Starikov looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Juanita: the team is 6-2 when he allows at most one hit, but 1-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ronan Scoffield, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Flynn, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Juanita is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Juanita will take on Hazen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty, they will face off against Inglemoor at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
