Basketball Recap: Coltenn Wagner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crosspointe Christian Academy over Mooresville Christian

Crosspointe Christian Academy was the 65-63 winner over Mooresville Christian when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Crosspointe Christian Academy Panthers came up short against the Mooresville Christian Eagles on Tuesday, falling 73-51. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-26.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Coltenn Wagner, who posted 12 points. Wagner has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tommy Shepherd, who earned ten points and six boards.

Mooresville Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Harrison Craney out in front who went 7 for 12 en route to 16 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Craney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gresh Warren, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Crosspointe Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Mooresville Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crosspointe Christian Academy will face off against Suburban Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Crosspointe Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season. As for Mooresville Christian, they will take on Indianapolis Metropolitan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Indianapolis Metropolitan also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 66.8 points per game.
