The Starkville Yellowjackets will challenge the Hillcrest Patriots at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Starkville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Starkville didn't have quite enough to beat Lafayette and fell 6-4.

Jonas Coleman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Hillcrest made sure to put some runs up on the board against Prattville on Thursday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 10-0 win. The Patriots not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 13, 2024 (when they won 14-3).

Starkville's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10. As for Hillcrest, their victory bumped their record up to 23-13.

Starkville beat Hillcrest 9-5 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
