Basketball Recap: Ohio School for the Deaf Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kylee Campbell and Marilyn Alcocer

Ohio School for the Deaf was the 41-17 winner over Michigan School for the Deaf when they last played one another back in January of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Ohio School for the Deaf Spartans took a 35-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Michigan School for the Deaf Tartars. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tartars 7-1 in the first quarter.

Marilyn Alcocer and Kylee Campbell certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Alcocer posted eight points and 20 rebounds, while Campbell dropped a double-double on 13 points and 23 boards. With that strong performance, Alcocer is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Even though they lost, Ohio School for the Deaf smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Ohio School for the Deaf and nudges their season record down to 6-10. As for Michigan School for the Deaf, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ohio School for the Deaf beat Michigan School for the Deaf by a score of 35-8 on Saturday.
