Four No. 1 teams are in the preseason rankings.

The Dallas area can boast all four No. 1 teams in the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches preseason rankings. Dallas Jesuit in 5A boys, Wakeland (Frisco) in 4A boys, Boyd (McKinney) in 5A girls and Pearce (Richardson) in 4A girls start the year at No. 1. Jesuit, Wakeland and Pearce are defending state champions. Boyd was the runner-up last season.

JESUIT STAR SUFFERS BROKEN LEG
Jesuit is ranked No. 1, but its depth will be tested after losing star middle forward Kristian Garciamendez-Rowold. The Dallas Morning News reported that Garciamendez-Rowold suffered a broken fibula last week in the Disney Showcase tournament. "First 20 minutes of my first game," he told The Dallas Morning News. "I went to save the ball from going out of bounds and I just put way too much pressure on this right foot. I reached out to kick with my left and it just snapped." The injury will not require surgery and the Garciamendez-Rowold hopes to return for the playoffs in April.
