Softball Game Preview: Glenbard North Panthers vs. Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers

The Glenbard North Panthers will take on the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Glenbard North comes in on nine and Wheaton-Warrenville South on three.

Glenbard North will bounce into Monday's game after beating St. Charles East, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Fighting Saints 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted against the Fighting Saints since May 31, 2022.

Avery Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Alexis Frcek was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run. Lauren Kozlovsky was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Glenbard North lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Charles East only launched one home run.

Meanwhile, Wheaton-Warrenville South got themselves on the board against Waubonsie Valley on Saturday, but Waubonsie Valley never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Warriors. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Glenbard North pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Glenbard North came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheaton-Warrenville South when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
