Preview: Licking Valley Panthers vs. Fairfield Union Falcons
The Licking Valley Panthers will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Fairfield Union Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Hopefully Licking Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
Licking Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They breezed by Lakewood on the road to the tune of 67-39. With that win, Licking Valley brought their scoring average up to 51.8 points per game.
Licking Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Vermilion, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Vermilion set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Owen Hottinger was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fairfield Union unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Teays Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Licking Valley now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Fairfield Union, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1.
Licking Valley came up short against Fairfield Union in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 49-43. Can Licking Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
