Basketball Recap: Socastee Falls Despite Big Games from Bri Smith and Trinity Sumpter

Socastee saw some tournament action on Thursday. They fell 38-27 to the Kingstree Blazers. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Socastee's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trinity Sumpter, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, and Bri Smith, who posted nine points and three steals.

Kingstree got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Naydia Shaw out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Shaw is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Demia Mosley, who earned 13 points.

Socastee's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Kingstree, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Socastee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-39 victory against Wilson Hall on the 3rd. As for Kingstree, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 35-19 win against Cane Bay on the 3rd.
