Fernley is a perfect 4-0 against Galena since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Vaqueros just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m.

Fernley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Damonte Ranch, who was ranked 15th at the time (Fernley was ranked fifth). The Vaqueros took a 37-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs on Thursday. The game marked the Vaqueros' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Galena waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 56-43 victory over the Raiders. While the Grizzlies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Galena found their leader in freshman Sandra Quevedo, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Julia Imse was another key player, putting up 14 points along with five boards and three steals.

Galena's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Fernley, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Fernley beat Galena 54-43 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Will the Vaqueros repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
