Softball Recap: New Trier Extends Winning Streak to Three

New Trier took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Maine South, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trevians skirted past the Hawks 5-4. The win was nothing new for the Trevians as they're now sitting on three straight.

New Trier's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Maine South, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Trier will face off against Highland Park at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trevians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Giants have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Maine South, they will challenge Evanston at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildkits have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.38 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
