Talia Paredes and Charleigh Bailliez did most of the damage at the plate: Paredes scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Bailliez went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Paredes is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Smyrna kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, North Jackson got the win against Pleasure Ridge Park on Monday by a conclusive 9-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chiefs.
Darcy McClendon was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kinley Burton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Allison Ferguson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
North Jackson's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Smyrna, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Smyrna hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like North Jackson struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Smyrna's way against North Jackson in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as Smyrna made off with an 8-1 win. Does Smyrna have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Jackson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
