The Badger Badgers will venture away from home to challenge the Elkhorn Elks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Badger will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Badger was able to grind out a solid win over Kenosha Tremper, taking the game 5-1.
Addison Kurtz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Miah Butinas was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Claire Polyock was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Badger kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kenosha Tremper only managed four.
Meanwhile, Elkhorn fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Badger on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Badgers by a score of 2-1. The Elks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Elkhorn also let their pitcher toss all nine innings and she was also dialed-in: Madi Wall gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on ten hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Elkhorn saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macy Salek, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Elkhorn's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Badger, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.
Badger skirted past Elkhorn 2-1 when the teams last played on Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Badgers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
