Basketball Game Preview: Bainbridge Spartans vs. Clover Park Timberwolves

Bainbridge has won 13 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Clover Park has won 13 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Bainbridge Spartans will welcome the Clover Park Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Bainbridge proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 27) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-52 win over North Kitsap. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Vikings are ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Clover Park on Saturday. They put the hurt on North Kitsap with a sharp 78-52 victory. The Timberwolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Clover Park's win came from a few key players Bainbridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Marshall Scott, who went 7-for-15 en route to 17 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kristian Carter, who went 7-for-10 to rack up 17 points and three blocks.

Bainbridge is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points over those games. As for Clover Park, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
