Basketball Recap: Maleah Jackson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat University

There's no place like home for Indianapolis Shortridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 victory over the University Trailblazers on Tuesday. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 49-40 win the Trailblazers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Indianapolis Shortridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maleah Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Jackson is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Keara Stewart, who posted 16 points.

University lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Taylor Seay, who earned 20 points along with eight boards and three steals. Gabby Culp was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Indianapolis Shortridge pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for University, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: University beat Indianapolis Shortridge by a score of 34-28 on Friday.
