Recap: Mohave Thunderbirds vs. Rancho Rams

The Mohave Thunderbirds lost against the Rancho Rams on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Mohave fell 52-45 to Rancho. While losing is never fun, Mohave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 175th in Arizona, while Rancho is ranked 48th in Nevada).

It was another big night for Claudia Vargas-Arellano, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists for Rancho. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Dagons, who scored 13 points.

Mohave's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Rancho, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Mohave and Prescott will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Hopefully Prescott focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Tuesday. Rancho and Sierra Vista will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
