Softball Recap: Byron Comes Up Short

After flying high against Durand on Monday, Byron came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Ovid-Elsie Marauders by a score of 10-9 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Harper Wilcox was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Addie Panula also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Byron's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Ovid-Elsie, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Byron is set to square off against their familiar foe Birch Run at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Ovid-Elsie will challenge rival Montrose at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
