Recap: Cypress Falls Eagles vs. Cypress Park Tigers

The Cypress Falls Eagles waltzed into Friday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 28-17 win over Cypress Park. Given Cypress Falls' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Cypress Park is ranked 757th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kye Callicoattee was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Ajani Cargile also helped out with an impressive 108 receiving yards.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Cypress Park to a paltry 200 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Cypress Falls' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Romeo Johnson and his two sacks.

Lemarion Byrd and Ryan Rasco certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Byrd rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown, while Rasco picked up 99 receiving yards.

Cypress Falls is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Cypress Park, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.

Cypress Falls will be playing at home against Cypress Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cypress Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Cypress Woods at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cypress Woods is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
