The Moapa Valley Pirates will take on the Pahrump Valley Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Moapa Valley will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Moapa Valley's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Democracy Prep Agassi Campus. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Tyson Pettingill, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Leavitt, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Moapa Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .609. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .542 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Pahrump Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Boulder City on Thursday and fell 5-4. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Pahrump Valley saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidyn Cratty, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Moapa Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Pahrump Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-9-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Moapa Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .402. However, it's not like Pahrump Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Moapa Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Pahrump Valley in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
