Volleyball Recap: Mobile Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Hadley Kelly and Kensley Shanahan

Mobile Christian came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Spanish Fort Toros. If the Leopards were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Toros when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Mobile Christian was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Spanish Fort's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 25-22.

Mobile Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kensley Shanahan, who had 18 digs and one assist, and Hadley Kelly, who had nine kills, four digs, and three blocks. Mykell Rowe also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Spanish Fort was led to victory by Cailyn Boykin and Victoria Holley. Boykin had 38 assists and four digs, while Holley had 20 digs and two aces. What's more, Boykin posted three kills, the most she's had over her last eight contests.

Mobile Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Spanish Fort, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-1.

Mobile Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against St. Paul's Episcopal on the 2nd. As for Spanish Fort, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Elberta on the 29th.
