Basketball Recap: Delta Panthers vs. Summit Tigers

There's no place like home for the Delta Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-48 victory over Summit on Saturday. For Delta, this counts as revenge for the 49-41 loss the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.

It was another big night for Erik Baier, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tucker Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Summit's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emilio Jain, who scored 11 points along with six steals. Jain hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Eduardo Gutierrez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.

Delta's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delta and the Bears will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Rifle is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Summit, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. Averaging 76.33 points so far this season, Northfield's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Tigers better be ready for a challenge.
