Baseball Recap: Westside Has No Trouble Against Palmetto

Westside got themselves on the board against Palmetto on Thursday, but Palmetto never followed suit. They blew past the Mustangs 10-0. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rams yet this season.

Jaxson Barbee looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caleb Christian, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. MJ Lee also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Westside and bumps their season record up to 8-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Palmetto, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside will welcome Wren at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.7, the Hurricanes 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Palmetto, they will challenge St. Joseph's Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
