Football Recap: Mahpiya Luta's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

If Mahpiya Luta was riding high fresh off their 30-6 takedown of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Tiospaye Topa last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Crusaders and the Todd County Falcons didn't end well, with the Crusaders falling 48-30. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Bane Yellow Eagle had an outrageously good game for Todd County as he rushed for 238 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. Yellow Eagle really tore up the turf during one magnificent 77-yard run. Oniya Whirlwind Soldier was in the mix as well, providing Todd County with two touchdowns.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mahpiya Luta fell to 2-1. As for Todd County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mahpiya Luta will head out to take on Winnebago at 3:00 p.m. on the 19th. The matchup will give the Crusaders their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Todd County, they will venture away from home to face off against St. Francis Indian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
