The Winters Blizzards are taking a road trip to take on the Cisco Loboes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Winters is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Winters fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Bangs on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 3-2.
Diego Rodriguez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Will Dunham and Jonah Whitaker stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dunham went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Whitaker scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Cisco came up short against Coleman on Friday and fell 8-5.
Like Winters, Cisco also got a great game from a two-way player: Parker Williams. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. Williams has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other batting news, Julius Proffitt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
Winters' record now sits at 7-6-1. As for Cisco, their record is now 8-6-2.
Cisco's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Winters hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. It's a different story for Cisco, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Winters' hitters?
Winters came up short against Cisco when the teams last played back in March of 2016, falling 7-3. Can the Blizzards avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
