Dobson was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Maryvale Panthers 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Panthers back in March, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Jaime Contreras paced Dobson's offense, picking up 18 kills. Contreras got some help from Gavin Andersen and his 35 assists.

With the victory, Dobson broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-8. As for Maryvale, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Coincidentally, Dobson and Maryvale will both be playing Horizon Honors the next time they take the court. The Panthers will head out to face the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, while the Mustangs will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
