Baseball Recap: Godby Comes Up Short

Godby managed to slip by Madison County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Godby came up short against Madison County on Friday, falling 14-3. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cowboys apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2015.

Jaylen Roque was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Scott, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Godby has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. The victory got Madison County back to even at 9-9.

Looking ahead, Godby will face off against Rickards at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Godby's pitchers better be ready for this one: Rickards has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Madison County, they will be playing at home against Trenton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
