Lakeview is 0-4 against Grant since April of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. The Wildcats will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Lakeview has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Morley Stanwood hit Lakeview with a 11-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats came up short against the Mowhawks, falling 16-1.
Lakeview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Buchner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Ten must be Grant's lucky number: they beat Reed City with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Coyotes with a sharp 10-4 win. Considering the Tigers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Logyn Hansen was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lillian Gee, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Grant is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Lakeview, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
Both Lakeview and Grant just can't seem to miss. The Wildcats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Grant struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
