Baseball Recap: Wharton Takes a Loss

Wharton and East Lake squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Wharton had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cooper Antelek was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Wharton's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10-1. As for East Lake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Wharton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Lake, they will square off against Land O' Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gators have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
