Basketball Recap: Classical Skates Past Central Christian Academy with Ease

Classical's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Central Christian Academy Lions 55-26. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Classical got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Addison Yost out in front who went 7 for 14 on her way to 19 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Yost a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Neill, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Classical was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Central Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laila Hernandez, who posted eight points and five steals. Hernandez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Luckner, who put up eight points.

Classical's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-5. As for Central Christian Academy, their record now sits at 4-8.

Classical has already played their next match, a 61-43 loss against Sterling on the 4th. As for Central Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-31 defeat against Remington on the 31st.
