The Clarksburg Coyotes will take on the Poolesville Falcons at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Clarksburg turned things around against Seneca Valley on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Screaming Eagles with a sharp 24-5 victory. The Coyotes not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 29-0).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Poolesville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Seneca Valley get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Saturday. The Falcons have beaten the Screaming Eagles the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Screaming Eagles has come to flipping the script.
Sawyer Thompson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Sam Lewis was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Justin Pawlowski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Poolesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seneca Valley only posted an OBP of .211.
Clarksburg picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-9. As for Poolesville, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
