Baseball Recap: The First Academy Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, The First Academy finally came back down to earth on Friday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the IMG Academy Ascenders. The match marked the Royals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Kyle Hopper was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, The First Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Fields, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The First Academy's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for IMG Academy, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

Looking ahead, The First Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Washington at 4:00 p.m. on March 17th. As for IMG Academy, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on South Walton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
