Baseball Recap: Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie vs. Dade Christian Warriors
Hialeah Educational Academy had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 0-3 to make it five. They lost 10-2 to the Dade Christian Warriors. The Biggie were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2016.
Steven Lopez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. Joshua Ortiz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Dade Christian, the victory got them back to even at 2-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Dade Christian's side, they got a great performance from Nicolas Rodriguez as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave Rodriguez a new career-high.
At the plate, Juan Rivera Jr and Joseph Agnoly did most of the damage at the plate: Rivera Jr got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Agnoly got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave Rivera Jr a new career-high. Joshua Azcuy also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Hialeah Educational Academy will square off against Western at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dade Christian, they will take on Coral Shores at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
