Volleyball Recap: Topeka Trojans vs. Emporia Spartans
Topeka lost against Emporia back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Trojans fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 2-1. While the Trojans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 25-20 in the first set.
Topeka started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-17, 25-12.
Leading Emporia to victory were Kaylee DeWitt and Molly Williams. DeWitt had 35 assists and seven digs, while Williams had 13 digs. DeWitt has been hot, having posted 13 or more assists the last five times she's played.
Topeka's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11-4. As for Emporia, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
Topeka will be playing at home against Turner on Wednesday. As for Emporia, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Manhattan on the 4th.
