Baseball Recap: St. Monica Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

St. Monica got themselves on the board against Milken on Tuesday, but Milken never followed suit. They blew past the Wildcats 10-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mariners.

Finley Crosby was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Crosby was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for St. Monica: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, St. Monica got a big performance out of Joey Parra, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Edvin Samayoa, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

St. Monica always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milken only posted an OBP of .346.

St. Monica's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Milken, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.

Coming up, St. Monica is taking a road trip to challenge Aptos at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Milken, they will be playing at home against Santa Clarita Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
