Softball Recap: Rootstown Finds Playoff Glory Versus Triway

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rootstown walked away with it. They skirted past the Triway Titans 6-4. The win was nothing new for the Rovers as they're now sitting on four straight.

The team relied heavily on Cheyenne Cutright, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Reise Thomas was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rootstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.

Rootstown's victory bumped their record up to 13-7-1. As for Triway, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-9.

Coming up, Rootstown will face off against South Range at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Rovers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Triway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
