Gridley is 7-2 against West Valley since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Gridley heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They fell 5-1 to Lassen. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Gridley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luis Murillo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, after a string of 17 wins, West Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Yreka by a score of 4-3.

Jayden Knight was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.

Gridley's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for West Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 19-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Gridley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like West Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Gridley came out on top in a nail-biter against West Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
